Giving Doesn’t Have To Be Complicated

For a long time, giving felt complicated to me. I wondered if I was doing it “right,” if it was enough, or if it even made a difference. Sometimes, I gave because I thought I was supposed to. Other times, I didn’t give at all because I wasn’t sure where to begin. There were seasons I gave with joy and others when I felt uncertain or even burned out.

But beneath all of that, I’ve always loved to give. I love the feeling of helping. Of offering something, however small, to someone else’s life. It’s one of the few ways I feel like I’m participating in something holy. What I’ve come to learn is this: Giving doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

It doesn’t have to be big, flashy, or loud.

It doesn’t even have to be money.

It can be your time.

A kind word.

A meal left at someone’s doorstep.

A prayer whispered when no one sees.

Even your presence just showing up is a gift.

Giving is not just a transaction. It’s a posture of the heart. And in God’s eyes, no act of love is ever wasted.

Jesus never said, “Give when you have it all figured out.”

He simply said, “Give.”

With joy. With compassion. With faith.

And trust that the small seed you plant can grow in ways you may never see.

If giving has felt complicated for you, that’s okay. You’re not alone.

Maybe today is the day to start small. To give from where you are.

Let it be simple. Let it be sincere.

Even the smallest act, offered in love through God, is holy.
